Joe Speaking Update
It has been a while since our last update in late March.
Over the past two months, Joe Speaking has moved from alpha to beta and reached 1,000 users. Thank you for practicing with us, reporting issues, and helping shape the product.
Joe, the builder of Joe Speaking, also reached CLB 9, equivalent to IELTS 8777, on his first attempt after practicing with the app. You can read the update here: CLB 9 result →
Even better, Joe Speaking is now helping other learners reach their goals too. One user improved from 6.5 to 8.0 after several weeks of practice, and that result matched her practice dashboard records.
What Changed
The main updates from the past two months
Live Conversation
A more natural speaking test experience
Joe spent almost two months polishing Live Conversation. You can talk naturally, respond in your own words, and keep the conversation going with the examiner.
We also built an AI candidate to test the full experience end to end: watch the AI candidate tests →
“Language is for communication, not perfection.”
Native speaker friends also tried the IELTS Speaking mock test. One professor received 9.0 on the first try: watch the full video →
Since the last email, we have released more than 40 versions and made over 1,200 improvements behind the scenes. Many were small fixes, polish, and stability work that you may not notice directly, but they all make Joe Speaking better. On average, we shipped a new version about every 1.6 days.
Many of these updates came directly from user feedback. If you run into an issue or want something improved, just reply to this email or join our Discord.
Next, we are working on the iOS wrapper for Joe Speaking. Once Apple review passes, we will let you know so you can use Joe Speaking more easily on your iPhone.
Our goal is simple: to help you speak more naturally and confidently, beyond the test.
Thank you so much for your support.
This is just the beginning.
Joe
